Homecoming is one of the most exciting weekends here in Manchester, CT. It is when the community families' ad residents come to watch the parade that our own MHS students march and perform in. This year, a shocker erupted among st the student body, when the freshmen class won for the first time in years. Following the parade is the Homecoming football game, where queen and king are announced. Saturday night is when the Homecoming dance takes place when students formally dress up and have a blast.
Each and every day, students find themselves lugging around a backpack containing school work, books and other materials. What some of us do not know, is that they can do much harm to our bodies. After talking to students and asking about an estimation of their backpack weight, we talked to a physical therapist. He was able to confirm that over a long period of time, this can be a leading factor in back pain later in life.
Celiac Disease is one that several Americans face here in the United States. It is unfortunate for them that they are not able to eat foods that contain gluten, which is in more items than we know of. They are forced to alter their diets in order to compensate for the nutrients that they will be deprived of. We felt as though more people should be informed about the issue, rather than them asking questions in relation to the disease.

This year, starting in April, a physical education teacher started a new club that was focused around Female fitness and health. A lot of girls find it difficult to go to the gym, due to intimidation of the males who go to the gym every day and are able to show off and lift way more than a woman could possibly lift. This is why Ms. Holder, P.E. teacher, felt the need to start a club that focused on young girls' health.
